When I was in high school, the question of "what is my purpose in life?" started to pop up in my head. At that young age, my knowledge of life's purpose is limited. I associate my life's purpose with my career. What is my ambition? What am I going to work for in future? Little did I know that finding my life’s purpose is not exactly about finding my career.
My limited exposure to the world told me that I'm going to be a doctor. Why? Maybe because I was raised in an Asean family. 😛 My parents wanted at least one of their children to become a doctor, and I'm the last choice they have. Unfortunately, I'm not that smart. 😂 Sorry mom and dad. I was certain that I'm gonna be a doctor, but by the time I got my SPM result, I know, medicine is not my future. So I stop having that dream.

I always have so much thoughts and ideas in my head. . I wanted to do so many things at the same time. I wanted to become everything; lawyer, film director, author, videographer, journalist, psychiatric, news anchor, spoke person, florist, housewife, and everything, you name it. I always feel like my thoughts are all tangled like twisted ropes. I don't know how to untangled them. My childish-fairytales-self always thought that the only person who can save me (untangled those ropes) is the one and only, my prince charming (future husband). But as I grew older, I learned that the only person who can save myself, is me. No one can untangled those ropes, unless it is me. (I started to learn about journaling and writing down my thoughts into paper).
When I was in university, I started to search for my life's purpose again. I've found out that in Islam, Allah has already told us about our purpose of life. Which can be summarize as these three.
PURPOSE OF LIFE
1. To Worship Allah - Ibadah | 51:56
2. To be a Khalifah - With knowledge - To promote goodness and peace | 2:30-32
3. To be Rahmah - Mercy and blessings - To all creation | 21:107
I don't quite grasp it at that time. I know I have to worship Allah. I know I have to be a leader. But how? Should I just become an ustazah? Should I become a scholar? Should I only become a doctor to save a life? Saving a life means I'm guaranteed Jannah? No, Allah did not create us to only be a doctor, or an ustaz or a scholar. Who's gonna run the country? Who's gonna sell our food? Who's gonna teach our children? Remember the Rahmah? We are not only created to worship Allah and be Khalifah, but to also be rahmah to every creation.
We can become anything that we want, we just have to put these guidelines parallel with any of our dreams. We may have more than one specific purpose, and our life's purpose might be changing as times. When we were kids, we have different purpose. When we were studying, we serve different purpose. When we are working, single, married, have kids, we serve different purpose according to our phase. But always remember to bring those three guidelines in whatever you do.
I learned that to find my life's purpose, I need to find my own self first. Self-discovery.
Here, you can do some of these tests.

2. How To Find Your Purpose in Life
"I believe that everybody has a purpose. Everybody exists for a reason, and we’re all meant to to contribute to the world in our unique way. Each person is blessed with a unique set of talents, skills, life experience, etc. that enable him or her to do something in the world. That “something” is his or her purpose.
Your purpose is essentially your life’s mission. Finding your life’s purpose is not about finding your career, although that can be a big part of it. One purpose can spawn multiple career paths, meaning there isn’t ONE thing that you’re supposed to do. Instead, there are various avenues to fulfill your purpose (ie: through hobbies or your relationships). Your purpose is bigger than your career—it is the backbone of your entire life and everything that you live and stand for. Your purpose is WHY you exist on this world. Once you discover your own personal WHY, your life will become more meaningful and fulfilling because you understand your REASON for being.
Now, finding your life’s purpose is a personal journey. You may not discover it immediately; it can take time. It’s been about three years since I’ve started thinking about my purpose. Over the years, I’ve tried various exercises that have helped me clarify my purpose. Here, I’ve compiled a set of questions that will help get you started on discovering your life’s purpose. It’s a slow and personal process, so be patient and open minded through it all. The first step is to believe that you have a purpose in life and that you are capable of discovering and fulfilling it."

I honestly still searching for that specific purpose of life that can bring benefits to others, the Rahmah part. But I do know that I always love these five things, "Knowledge, Travel, Volunteer, Positive & Love". For now, my main purpose is to become a better self. This year, I'm all about self care, self love and self growth.

I pray that we all find our purpose in life. May we all have a meaningful life.
